Plantar fasciitis typically develops when the thick band of connective tissue along the bottom of the foot is repeatedly overloaded. Changes in foot and ankle mechanics, activity level, footwear, repetitive impact, and tightness through the calf and Achilles complex can all contribute. In persistent cases, the problem may involve chronic degenerative changes within the tissue rather than simple short-term inflammation.
Focused Shockwave Therapy (FSW) is one of our primary treatments for chronic plantar fasciitis. FSW uses powerful acoustic waves to deliver mechanical energy precisely into the affected tissue, stimulating biological processes associated with tissue repair, circulation, and remodeling. We can also evaluate foot, ankle, and lower-extremity mechanics to identify mechanical factors that may be repeatedly stressing the plantar fascia. The goal is not simply to temporarily mask heel pain, but to help the tissue recover and function normally again.
