Neuro-Structural Chiropractic Care

Contrary to what you might see in popular social media videos, chiropractic is about much more than making something “crack.” Our objective is to restore, maintain, and optimize human function. The spine is a mechanical structure designed to move while protecting the spinal cord and nerves. When joints become restricted, spinal alignment changes, or normal biomechanics are altered, the body must compensate. Muscles work differently, forces are redistributed, and over time those changes can contribute to pain, stiffness, nerve irritation, and degeneration.

Our approach combines traditional chiropractic adjustments with a greater emphasis on structure and function. We want to know not only where you’re hurting, but how your spine is moving, how it’s aligned, and why the problem may have developed in the first place. When appropriate, objective measurements from PostureScreen, digital X-rays, and PostureRay help us develop a care plan specific to what we actually find.

Dr. Pratt often says, “Chiropractic is done with you, not done for you.” That’s why care often begins with a higher frequency of visits and gradually decreases as your spine begins to move better and stabilize. Adjustments in the office are often combined with corrective exercises and other recommendations at home so you’re actively participating in the process.

We generally think of care in three phases:

BETTER — Initial Intensive Care: First, we want to stop the cycle you’re in. The focus is on reducing pain and irritation, restoring movement, improving function, and helping you get back to feeling, moving, and sleeping better.

STRONGER — Corrective Care: Feeling better is important, but it isn’t always the finish line. As symptoms improve, the emphasis shifts toward stabilizing the spine, correcting mechanical or postural problems when possible, and using targeted exercises and corrective strategies to help make those improvements more durable.

HEALTHIER — Wellness Care: Once we’ve made meaningful progress, some patients choose periodic care to maintain what they’ve accomplished. Life doesn’t stop exposing your body to physical, chemical, and emotional stress just because you’ve completed a care plan. Wellness care is about maintaining healthy movement and function so your body is better prepared to adapt to the stresses that come with everyday life.
